Commendable contribution in support of families of martyrs

Eritrean nationals residing in various countries expressed that the contribution they are making in support of families of martyrs attest to the respect they have towards their martyrs.
Indicating that supporting families of martyrs is the responsibility of every citizen, the nationals in the US, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Sweden, Italy, Norway, Israel and Saudi Arabia organized in a group said that they will sustainably continue the program they initiated before three years.
Ms.
Yodit Asfaha, member of the group from Sweden, said that the about 50 members of the group meet three times per week through the social media and discuss about the objective situation in their homeland and on the national development programs. Ms. Yodit also said that the group has so far contributed, about
22 thousand Euros and 56 thousand Kroner.
Ms. Yodit indicated that 6 Eritrean women residing in Uppsala, Sweden, have assumed responsibility of supporting 80 families of martyrs for 12 years. Ms. Yodit went on to say that other nationals joined the program and contributed
120,960 Kroner in support of 21 families of martyrs.

Siona Asgede contributed 12 thousand Kroner they collected through various activities they conducted, in connection with June 20, Martyrs Day.

Nationals residing in Sweden, The Netherlands, Australia and South Sudan conducted various activities portraying their attachment with their homeland.
According to report, Eritreans residing in Stockholm, Sweden, commemorated the 30th Anniversary of Operation Fenkil under the theme “Operation Fenkil for Development”.
At the event, Mr.
Yonas Mana, Charge d’Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy in Scandinavian countries, stated that the commemoration event of Operation Fenkil that elucidated total independence of Eritrea is a reminder to every citizen to renew pledge to live up to expectations of martyrs and strengthen participation in the nation building process.
Mr. Yonas further called on participants to play due role in transferring the shining history to posterity.
The commemorative event was highlighted, by artistic and cultural performances depicting the historic Operation.
Likewise, nationals residing in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, The Netherlands, commemorated the 30th Anniversary of the Operation Fenkil on 1 and 8 February respectively.
Speaking at the commemorative events, Mr.
Solomon Mehari, head of the Eritrean Consul in The Netherlands, pointed out that Operation Fenkil had significant contribution in the final push for the total independence of Eritrea and called on the participants to strengthen contribution in support of families of martyrs. Mr. Solomon also called on the nationals to strengthen contribution in the implementation of the development drives in the new era of peace and cooperation.
In related news, the Eritrean community in Melbourne, Australia, commemorated the 30th anniversary of Operation Fenkil. At the commemorative event that was highlighted by artistic and cultural performances, Mr.
Mehari Tekeste, Consul General of Eritrea, gave extensive briefing on the historic event.
Participants on their part expressed readiness to reinforce contribution by strengthening organizational capacity.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of Eritrea in the Republic of South Sudan organized activity assessment meeting on 9 February in Juba.
Mr.
Yohannes Teklemicael, Eritrean Ambassador in South Sudan, presented three years activity report and answered questions forwarded by participants.
The participants conducted extensive discussion on the report presented and adopted various recommendations.

Monetary support to disadvantaged families

The Eritrean Community in Israel contributed a total of
162,164 USD in support of war disabled veterans and families of martyrs. The monetary contribution includes 77,644 USD to families of martyrs’ and 54,960 USD to war disabled veterans, the report indicated.
The Eritrean community in Israel also conducted activity assessment meeting on 8 February and charted out action plan for 2020.
The nationals expressing readiness to shoulder responsibility of supporting the families of the martyrs’ and the war disabled veterans conveyed message of congratulation to the people and Government of Eritrea in connection with the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of Operation Fenkil.
Speaking at the event, Mr.
Solomon Kinfe, Charge d’affairs at the Eritrean Embassy in Israel, called on the nationals to strengthen organizational capacity and contribution in nation building process.
