Some people for whatever reason adopted the green yellow red color as national symbol, on everything of every aspect of life in the country, with the accompanying polarizing effect on the rest of the society's sector. It was anything but unifying in its advent as a widespread use of everyday's life in the country.

In politics, in religion, in culture and anything else the symbol was over-used, for whatever reason.

Now that is changing silently and Ethiopia is adopting a neutral color as its national symbol, a unique plant growing perhaps only in Ethiopia and used for generations as a symbol of many cultural activities, አዴይ አባባ፣ deep yellow in color, with which every part of the country and all sections of the society identifies itself with.

In just over 2 years since its adoption as a national symbol this color has made a high stride and made itself ubiquitous by now, amazing.

From September to November, much of the Ethiopian plateau and many river valleys, hills, and mountain slopes in Ethiopia are covered by yellow-flowered Bidens species, including B. macroptera. In some locations, these flowers grow in masses so dense that they resemble cultivated fields.

In Ethiopia, yellow is a symbol of peace, hope, and love . Yellow Bidens are often displayed to signify the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the dry and sunny season and, more specifically, the start of the Ethiopian New Year, which usually falls on September 11th on the Gregorian calendar. Bouquets of these flowers are often presented to families or friends as gifts. Together with grasses and sedges, they are also used in decorating the floors of homes, particularly during household or communal coffee ceremonies.

Bidens macroptera is known only from Ethiopia. It grows on rocky mountain slopes and in grasslands, forest margins, and open places in ericaceous scrub; rarely, it is found along roadsides. Another Bidens species, B. prestinaria, is the most widespread Bidens in Ethiopia (it occurs also in the highlands of Sudan). Bidens prestinaria is more prevalent at lower altitudes and in cities in towns, whereas B. macroptera is more common at higher altitudes. Together, these two species form a conspicuous component of the flora of the Ethiopian_Highlands.

የአደይ አበባ ገለልተኛ ነው እያልክ ግን አንተው እራስህ ፖልቲካዊ እያደረከው ነው ። የአደይ አበባ አረንጓዴ ቢጫ ቀይ የኢትዮጵያ ሰንደቅን አልተካም! አይተካም! በፍጹም!

አደይ አበባ የኢትዮጵያዊያን እምነት ምልክት ነው! ይህ ትርጉም በቅድመ ክርስትና ጸደይ (ክረምት አልፎ የንጹህ ወራት መምጣት) ማለት ነው! መስቀል ማለት ያ ነው ! እንዲያውም የመስቀል አበባ ነው የሚባለው ! የቅድመ ክርስትና ትርጉሙ ጽብሃ ብርሃን ወይም የጸሃይ መውጣት ማለት ነው ።

በዘመነ ክርስትና ቢጫው ቀለም እምነት (ፌይዝ) ማለት ነው ። አረንጓዴው ልምላሜ ሲሆን ቀዩ ደም፣ ትግል፣ ጀግንነት መስዋዕትነት ማለት ነው ።

ስለዚህ በመስከረም (መስክረም ማለት መስቀል ማለት የብርሃን መወለጃ ወር) የኢትዮጵያ መሬት በፖለቲካ ስሌት ሳይሆን በተቀደሰው ፍጥረት ምክኛት ቢጫ ወለም ያለው የአደይ፣ የጸደይ፣ የመስቀል፣ የብርሃን አበባ ትለብሳለች! የኢትዮጵያ ህዝቦችም ባንዲራቸውን ለመተካት ሳይሆን እራሳቸው አንድ የፍጥረት ተአምር ስለሆኑ ቢጫ ቀለም ይለብሳሉ ።

እንደ ጉራጌ ያሉ የመስቀል ሕዝቦች የሁል ግዜ የባህል ልብሳቸው (ሴትዮች) ሻሻቸው ጭምር ሁልግዜ ቢጫ ነው ። የኢትዮጵያን ባንዲራ ፖለቲካዊነት በኒውትራል ቀለም ወይም ገለልትኛ ትግርጅም ለመተካት አይደለም ቢጫ የባህል ልብስ አድርገው የኖሩት! የመስቀል ሕዝብ ስለሆኑና አደይ የመስቀል አበባ ስለሆነ ነው ። ወብ ስለሆነ ነው! ድንቅ ስለሆነ ነው ! የእምነታቸው ምልክት ስለሆነ ነው !

ገናናው አረንጓዴ ቢጫ ቀይ ... ልምላሜ እምነት ጀግንነት ... የታላቋ ፣ባለታሪኳ፣ ባለቅኔዋ የጥቁር ዘር ነጻነት ምልክት የሆነቸው ኢትዮጵያ መለያ ምልክት ነው! ይህን የሚለውጥ ፖለቲካ በኢትዮጵያ ምድር አይኖርም !

ይህን ቅዱስና የፍትረት ተአምር ከቆሻሻው የሰው ልጆች ፖለቲካና የስልጣን በሽታ ጋራ ለማያያዝ መሞከርህ እግጅ ያሳዝናል!

በዚህ አለምኮ በፖለቲካና አይዲዮሎጂ ከታመሙ የሰው ልጆች የላቀ ሃይልና ዉበት አለ!

ስለሆነም ሁለት ፍጹም የማይገናኙ ነገሮች በዚህ ቅዱስ ቀን ለማገናኘት መሞከርህ ስህተት ነው! መልካም አዲስ አመት ይሁንልህ! ኢትዮጵያ በሰንደቋ አሸብርቃ ለዘላለም ትኑር!!!

በዚህ አለምኮ በፖለቲካና አይዲዮሎጂ ከታመሙ የሰው ልጆች የላቀ ሃይልና ዉበት አለ!

ስለሆነም ሁለት ፍጹም የማይገናኙ ነገሮች በዚህ ቅዱስ ቀን ለማገናኘት መሞከርህ ስህተት ነው! መልካም አዲስ አመት ይሁንልህ! ኢትዮጵያ በሰንደቋ አሸብርቃ ለዘላለም ትኑር!!!

I didn't say or imply the color of the flag should be changed, what I said and is happening on the ground is the over use of the colors of the flag for everything, be it politics or otherwise, with additional effect of polarizing the society. As long as our politics is polarized, for good or bad, we don't need more inflammation to the already combustible toxic politics on the ground. The colour of አደይ አበባ is helping in this regard and pacifiying the furiously waged political debate in the country. That is what I wanted to highlight here.

I also think that the color and use of አደይ አበባ is not only in Guraghe region, I know for sure in the area where I grew up it is widely used for different purposes, even considered sort of sacred, for example some elders take the flower with them to mediations between feuding parties as symbol of peace and reconcilation.
