A Comparative Analysis of the United States and Eritrea Social Justice Scorecards 🧐

A comparative analysis is a side-by-side comparison that systematically compares two or more countries to pinpoint their similarities and differences. In this process we will present raw data to identify strengths and weaknesses and clearly understand which country is more effective within the framework of Social Justice.

Some readers may be inclined to think that we are biased against Eritrea, or that we are trying to minimize its successes and magnify its weaknesses, but that's not our intention, and we would like to sincerely apologize if our comparative analysis appears to be favoring the United States over the great nation of Eritrea.

For a starter, one of the striking similarities we found between the two countries is:

American Patriot Forces defeated the then World's leading Super-power England to gain their independence on July 4, 1776.

Similarly, Eritrean liberation forces defeated the then World's super power Soviet Union to gain their independence on May 24, 1991.

Now let's look at the Social Justice Scorecards for the two fiercely independent nations. Shall we?

Access to clean water is a basic human right – fundamental to everyone's health, dignity and prosperity.

Both the United States and Eritrea scored high in providing clean and safe drinking water to their populations:

Maternal mortality rate

In line with their deeply held principle that "Life is the First Human Rights," both Eritrea and the USA have made tremendous efforts in providing quality health care for pregnant mothers and their new-born babies. We discovered that Eritrea has a Universal Health-Care system that offers healthcare that is free for everyone, therefore, Eritrea wins this category.

EDUCATION

The highest literacy rates (100%) recorded by both the US and Eritrea is an indication that education is a top priority for the two fiercely independent Powers. The nation of Eritrea spends up to 40% of total revenues on education, and "Student Debt" in unheard of in Eritrea where education is offered to all citizens for FREE. The US, on the other hand, spends 11% on elementary and secondary education, while colleges charge tuition fees and Student Loan Debt is on the rise. This is a very tough category to judge, so we say it's a tie.

This should not come as a surprise to anyone. The United States and Eritrea have both cultivated unshakable self confidence that they neither receive nor solicit foreign aid. Eritreans say "Anyone who takes aid is mentally and spiritually crippled." And Americans say "It is better to give aid than to receive aid." They're both right. So, once more, this is a tie.

COMBAT TANKS

The United States scored higher in number of combat tanks than Eritrea. Still, Eritrea's #16 ranking in the world with 1,756 battle tanks is quiet impressive considering the arms embargo, economic sanctions, and political hostilities the country had to endure during the last two decades. If this was about resiliency and perseverance, Eritrea would have won this category, but we are comparing combat tanks and the United States wins this category hands down.

CRIME RATE

This one is a tie-breaker. When it comes to Crime Rates, the great nation of Eritrea has scored amazing well and it is an incredibly safe country with the lowest crime rates in the world. So how does a developing African country like Eritrea manage to keep its crime rate so low? In our opinion, Eritrea's low crime rate is attributed to its centuries-old rich culture of tolerance, national character and value for social harmony and mutual respect, which should be emulated by countries experiencing high crime rates.

Sexual violence is extremely rare in the great nation of Eritrea, but it is unfortunately common in the United States. It is worth noting that, anti-sexual violence organizations in the US have achieved remarkable results in preventing and responding to sexual violence, including caring for those impacted by sexual abuse, and the pursuit of justice for the victims.

The exceptional 95 national IQ Average scored by Eritrea has ranked the fiercely independent African nation among the Smartest Countries in the World. It is widely known that, the value placed on education, quality of schools and teachers, as well as good parenting, has great influence on the national IQ score of a given nation. Good job USA!

Stunting is tied to poverty, chronic malnutrition, and limited access to vaccination, clean water, and sanitation. Both the United States and Eritrea have done a great job eliminating child stunting. It's a tie again.

Who would've thought that the lowest inflation rate ever recorded in the world was in Eritrea, a country Twice removed from SWIFT in a series of severe sanctions aimed at economically isolating the fiercely independent nation and crippling its economy. Yet, the country keeps beating all odds -- a testament to the determination and resolve of its people that, no amount of hostilities can derail them from the goals they set for themselves. There's a lesson to learn here.

FOOD SECURITY

Both the United States and Eritrea are completely self-sufficient in food due to their ability to grow their own food in abundance to feed their populations adequately. The US is the largest donor of food aid to countries that have yet to learn how to grow their own food. Eritrea has also been very generous with sharing its surplus food with its neighbors, namely Somalia and South Sudan. The US wins this category by a HUGE margin. God Bless America!

The fiercely independent nation of Eritrea has a long history of thwarting terrorist activities in the Horn of Africa region. According to international experts, in the early 1990's, when Osama bin Laden was still living in Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, Eritrea threatened to take military action against Sudan for harboring the leader of the infamous terror group, and Osama eventually left Sudan and moved to Afghanistan. When the TPLF terror group in neighboring Tigray region of Ethiopia fired rockets into Eritrea on 14 and 27 of November 2020, the Eritrean Defense forces entered Tigray, annihilated the TPLF terror group and neutralized the terror threat, once and for all. Eritrea wins this category hands down!
