the Ethiopian Highlands have high population density due to higher levels of rain and soil fertility as well cooler climates and agrarian culture while the lowlands have drier and hotter climates with less people able to survive in such conditions the borders are easily distinguished

90% of Ethiopia lives in the highlandsSadacha Macca wrote: ↑07 May 2024, 18:22My noble Amara brother,

the Sidama, Gedeo, Hadiya, Welayta being stuck in their small zones unable to move or expand is leading to high population density
Haraghe is also leading in population density in Oromia the reason is Harargne cannot migrate to the lowlands north or south due to the dry climate surrounding hararghe so that is causing to the high population in Hararghe making it the only region in eastern ethiopia with a high population.
The highlands of Tigray end in Shire after you reach shire you descend to the tekeze river which is very hot. The Gondare highlands are spotted in the map as well as the Gojjam highlands which end right at Meketel which is also hot average 100 degree farheneit year round the exception is Qwara and Armachiho that are similar to Meketel but the difference is Amharu cleared the forests and bushes of Gondere Lowlands in Armachiho, Metemma and Qwara, east of Lake tana as well. While the Gumuz have preserved the bush and forested habitation of Meketel as they are not farmers .
90% of Galla live in the highlands too
